Philadelphia, PA (May 9, 2023) – A mother and her 8-year-old daughter were left severely injured as a result of a pedestrian accident that took place in Center City Philadelphia, on Tuesday evening, May 9. The accident occurred just after 10:00 p.m.
Reports provided by the Philadelphia Police Department show that a dark gray SUV was speeding in the wrong direction down JFK Boulevard near 16th Street.
As the vehicle proceeded forward with its lights off, the police began to follow it. The vehicle then fled forward on Arch Street.
As the vehicle fled through the 1300 block of the roadway, it struck a 38-year-old woman who was walking with her 8-year-old daughter. The force of the impact of the crash launched the mother approximately 20 feet in the air while knocking the woman and the child out of their shoes.
The woman was severely injured as a result of the crash. She was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where she was admitted with traumatic injuries to the head and multiple fractures.
