Philadelphia, PA – Man Killed in Fatal Bus Accident on Roosevelt Blvd
Philadelphia, PA (July 21, 2023) – An elderly man was killed in a fatal bus accident that took place in Philadelphia on the afternoon of Friday, July 21.
According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened after noon on Roosevelt Boulevard near the area of Shelmire Avenue. Police confirmed that a number 14 SEPTA bus was traveling in the area when it slammed into the back of a second SEPTA bus due to reasons that are not yet known. Both buses sustained extensive damage, and debris was left all over the road in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene after the accident. A total of 13 people sustained injuries in the accident, some of which were serious in nature. Witnesses said that they saw one male passenger holding his head and another with blood running down his leg. One of the bus drivers was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police confirmed that a 72-year-old male passenger on one of the buses was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the collision.
A large portion of the road was blocked off in the area following the accident. This led to delays until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing at this time.
