Philadelphia, PA – Jamal Jackson Killed in Pedestrian Crash at E St & Allegheny Ave

Philadelphia, PA (November 23, 2021) – At 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 21, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Philadelphia.

According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened at the intersection of East Street and Allegheny Avenue. Police confirmed that 31-year-old Jamal Jackson was walking in the area of the intersection when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle traveling in the area. The vehicle slowed down but continued to drag Jackson for a few blocks until he was let go. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help. Jackson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by being dragged.

Police have since identified the vehicle involved in the accident through surveillance videos taken at the scene. The vehicle was identified as a white or gray Acura TL with a sunroof and damage to its bumper.

The intersection was blocked for some time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
