Philadelphia, PA – Four People Killed in Fatal DUI Crash on Schuylkill Expy
Philadelphia, PA (April 16, 2023) – Four people were killed in a fatal DUI accident that took place in Philadelphia on the morning of Saturday, April 15.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76). Police confirmed that the crash happened around the area of the City Avenue exit when a driver in his vehicle suddenly swerved across multiple lanes of traffic, striking a second vehicle. The first vehicle then overturned. The second vehicle, however, propelled forward and collided with a bride pillar. Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The four members of the second vehicle were severely injured in the accident. They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the first vehicle has since been identified as 31-year-old Victor Spizzirri. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police have since arrested him on charges of homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol due to being impaired at the time of the collision.
No further details have been released, but the investigation into the collision continues.
