Philadelphia, PA – Four Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash at 16th St & Vine St

Philadelphia, PA (May 22, 2023) – Four people sustained injuries in a hit-and-run accident that took place at a Philadelphia intersection on Sunday morning, May 21.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 16^th Street and Vine Street. Police confirmed that a driver was pulled over initially because they ran a red light at the intersection. Officers started to approach the vehicle, but when they did so, the driver took off and crashed into a vehicle carrying four people. The vehicles were badly damaged in the collision. The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The four victims inside the second vehicle sustained injuries. Two of those victims suffered critical injuries, but the other two are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
