Philadelphia, PA (July 29, 2023) – Around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 29, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident took place in Philadelphia.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at 6400 North 8th Street. Police confirmed that a male pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene of the accident without stopping to check on the pedestrian.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, identified as a 50-year-old man, was transported to Einstein Medical Center with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced deceased a short time after arriving.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident at this time.

No further details have been released, but the investigation into the collision continues.
