Philadelphia, PA – DUI Pedestrian Accident at Spring Garden Ave Intersection

Philadelphia, PA (July 4, 2020) – Around 4 a.m. this morning, a DUI pedestrian accident took place at an intersection in Philadelphia.

Police confirmed that the accident took place at the intersection of 5th Street and Spring Garden Avenue when a man driving under the influence lost control of his vehicle.

The driver of a Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Spring Garden when they struck an Acura as it was crossing the intersection. The Acura then went into the center median where it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as a man in his 50s, was taken to Jefferson University Hospital but succumbed to his injuries there. A male passenger in the Acura was also hospitalized and died due to his injuries.

The driver of the Acura sustained injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. The 27-year-old male driver of the Jeep was taken to Temple University Hospital and was treated. He was then arrested for DUI.

At this time, police continue their investigation into the accident.
