Philadelphia, PA (June 25, 2018) – An accident left a cyclist killed in North Philadelphia this past week. Four cyclists have not been killed in Philly accidents over the past year alone.
The man was identified as a 40-year-old who was struck by a dump truck as the driver was making a right turn. The accident happened on Friday morning, according to police who responded to the scene.
The collision happened around 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Luzerne Street. The dump truck driver claimed that he never saw the bicyclist when he was making the right turn.
Medics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where he later died due to severe injuries. His identity has not yet been released. No arrests have been made in the case. The investigation continues during this time.
Many people have lost their lives in bicycle accidents recently, such as a 24-year-old who was struck by a garbage truck and a 34-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle.
