Motorcyclist Killed On Route 183
Penn Township, PA, June 25, 2018 – At 7:30 am today, a motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Route 183. His name was Michael Scheifele, and he was 67 years old. A car and a truck were the other vehicles involved. Apparently, all three vehicles were driving south towards Palisades Drive. One of the three vehicles did not stop on time for traffic. The failure to stop caused Scheifele to fly off his motorcycle. According to the police, he was taken to Reading Hospital but died due to catastrophic injuries.
The police also stated that Route 183 was shut down for four hours because of the fatal accident. The other passengers did not suffer such major injuries. The police confirmed that the case is still undergoing investigation.
More investigation will determine which vehicle was at fault for not stopping for traffic, and the reason behind such behavior. A common explanation would be that the driver responsible was distracted. There is a plethora of reasons why drivers get distracted and cause fatal accidents. Some of the reasons include: using a cellphone, falling asleep at the wheel, or driving under the influence. This vital information will be the determining factor as to whether Scheifele’s family files a lawsuit or whether the other drivers file lawsuits.
