Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Pennsylvania
Fatal pedestrian accidents in Pennsylvania take the lives of countless people each year. Far too often, these accidents are a result of drivers who engage in reckless and negligent actions. Some of the leading factors in these accidents include:
- Speeding: When drivers are traveling at too high of a speed, they may not be able to stop in time to avoid a collision with a pedestrian. Unfortunately, speeding drivers are more likely to cause fatal injuries to victims due to the force of impact.
- Impairment: Drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol are unlikely to be able to make sound decisions while behind the wheel. As a result, these drivers may experience impaired vision, judgment, and reaction time. This can lead to devastating accidents with pedestrians.
- Failing to yield: When drivers do not yield to pedestrians who are traveling in designated crossing areas and other specific locations, they can cause severe accidents that leave pedestrians severely harmed or ultimately take their lives.
