It is no secret that motorcycles can be extremely dangerous. Sadly, a 41-year-old man found that out last night in Philadelphia after he was struck by another motorcyclist and died from his injuries. The motor vehicle accident occurred just shortly before 8:00 p.m. last night at the intersection of 46th Street and Girard Avenue.
According to police, the man was attempting to change lanes near the intersection when he was struck by another motorcyclist. The man was subsequently pushed off the road before slamming into a tree. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where his catastrophic injuries proved fatal as he later died at the hospital.
The man whose name has not yet been released was the only one injured as the other motorcyclist escaped the crash unharmed. The severity of the accident could rightfully lead to wrongful death charges along with a host of other indictments due to negligence. Even though most motorcycle accidents occur between the bike and a larger vehicle, this one is a bit more perplexing as riders tend to watch out for one another more carefully.
Regardless, at Edelstein, Martin & Nelson, we appreciate the freedom of motorcycling, and we understand that accidents happen. A crash can occur at any time, even when we think we are alert and mindful of our surroundings. Nevertheless, when someone causes a serious crash of any kind, they must be held accountable, and we understand the importance of compensation in these tragic times.
