Jersey Shore, PA – Andrew Stern Killed in Fall Accident at Jersey Shore Bay in Lycoming CoPa Accident News
Jersey Shore, PA (May 31, 2021) – Andrew J. Stern, a well-known Philadelphia trial lawyer, died on Saturday, May 29, after a fall accident at the Jersey Shore borough in Pennsylvania.
His wife, Gwen, disclosed details of Stern’s accident in a social media post. Borough officers said they believe that Stern fell into the Jersey Shore bay, located in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, on Friday night. He was rescued in Margate but died of his injuries at an area hospital early Saturday morning. Stern was a longtime partner at prominent Philadelphia law firm Kline & Specter. He had recently started his own firm with a Kline & Specter colleague.
In 2017, he represented Mariya Plekan, a woman who was trapped for 13 hours after the collapse of a Salvation Army store on Market Street in 2013, in a civil suit over the collapse, which also killed six others. The survivors, including Plekan, and the families of the deceased received $227 million, the largest ever settlement in Pennsylvania history. Stern also won a $100 million medical malpractice case in 2000.
Colleagues noted that Stern was in strong physical shape and was a good swimmer, though officers did not comment on the circumstances surrounding his accident.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Andrew Stern.
