In Pine Township, PA, an accident occurred involving a tractor-trailer hauling a crane. The tractor-trailer crashed, causing the crane to tumble off of the back, which promptly fell onto a pickup truck. The 54-year-old inside the pickup truck died instantly. He has been identified as Jay D. Watts from Sewickley.
Let’s take a closer look at this case and what makes it so unique. Crane toppling incidents are some of the most common reasons why people are killed by cranes in America. Because they are made from such heavy materials, it can result in death or serious injury to those who are affected. Many crane accidents happen in the construction industry, but this one is unique because it was caused by a negligent truck driver.
There are many reasons why truck accidents occur, from adverse weather conditions on the roadways and distracted driving to drunk driving and those who drive after they haven’t gotten enough sleep. In any case, when a truck driver does not abide by the rules of the road and a crash occurs, negligence is usually at the center of it all.
