After any serious motor vehicle accident, the biggest mistake someone can make is fleeing the scene. This is the exact mistake two people made in Lancaster County last night after running a red light and striking another vehicle. The crash occurred on the 600 block of East King Street when the suspects struck a vehicle that was coming from the first block of South Franklin Street. The accident happened around 7:17 p.m.
According to police, two people were entrapped in the vehicle that was struck, while the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. The suspects will likely be facing charges of wrongful death as both victims were immediately transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where the driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger in the victims’ vehicle is undergoing surgery for potentially catastrophic injuries.
While police identified one suspect as 29-year-old Josue Rivera, the other suspect is unidentified, although they have an image of him wearing a red shirt on camera. Isaia Candelario, 16, has been identified as the deceased victim. The other victim has yet to be identified. In any event, car accidents do not get much worse than this, and police are still searching for the suspects.
