Greene County, PA (August 18, 2018) On Thursday morning, at 5:20 a.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 79 between Exit 14-PA 21/Waynesburg and Exit 1-Mount Morris. Unfortunately, the collision killed one of the drivers and left the other driver critically injured. The accident shut down the highway for hours. Investigators are gathering more information about the accident to determine how it happened and who is liable.
A major contribution to accidents in the United States is negligent driving. Negligent driving includes using a cell phone, eating, speeding, driving under the influence, and falling asleep at the wheel. Most drivers partake in negligent behavior because they believe they can multi-task and still drive safely. Unfortunately, it only takes a few seconds of distracted driving to cause an accident. Other causes of accidents are bad road conditions, hazardous weather conditions, and defective auto parts. Investigators are figuring out what caused this accident.
Accidents usually result into severe, catastrophic, or fatal injuries. Severe injuries can require treatment for weeks, months, or years. Catastrophic injuries usually alter a person’s body forever, limiting them from participating in regular activities. Because one of the drivers lost their life in this accident, their loved ones can pursue a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of an attorney. The other driver could also pursue a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a personal injury lawyer. It’s unfortunate that a driver lost his or her life, and that another driver is suffering critical injuries.
