Gordonville, PA (May 22, 2022) – Around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, May 21, a car accident took place involving a buggy in Gordonville.
East Lampeter Township Police confirmed that the accident happened at 500 Musser School Road. An 86-year-old woman from Ephrata was traveling west in a Volkswagen Golf when her vehicle struck an eastbound horse pulling a wagon behind it. Both the vehicle and the buggy then traveled into a nearby field following the crash and sustained severe damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Both riders in the wagon, identified as a 69-year-old woman and her 44-year-old daughter, were thrown onto the road. They were rushed to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries. The driver of the Golf was also taken to the hospital for treatment, though her condition is not yet known. The horse tragically died at the scene.
Musser School Road was blocked for four hours as police worked to clear the scene.
