Franklin Township Injury Accident (October 26, 2017) John M. Jones, a 27-year-old man from Laverne, Alabama was seriously injured in an accident with a tractor trailer Thursday morning.
According to a report by the Butler Eagle, the accident occurred around 7 o’clock in the morning. What is known at this time from local police is that a tractor trailer, driven by Thomas Jackson Jr., 42, from Pittsburgh was exiting the Fairground Market parking lot on to Route 422 near the Big Butler Fairgrounds in Franklin Township. Mr. Jones was headed eastbound in a Dodge Ram truck and slammed directly into the tractor trailer, which was hauling an empty tank.
Prospect volunteer firefighters had to use a rescue tool to extract Mr. Jones from his vehicle as he was trapped following the collision and was flown via Life-Flight to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with a compound fracture of his right leg and other injuries after his pickup truck collided with the tractor-trailer.
Mr. Jackson was not injured in the accident and police said it was not immediately known if charges would be filed in the crash. A portion of Route 422 for about an hour.
