Fox Chase, PA – Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Verree Rd
Fox Chase, PA (October 15, 2022) – Around 8 p.m. on the night of Friday, October 14, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened in Fox Chase.
According to local officials, the accident happened at night at 7900 Verree Road. A man in his 60s was allegedly standing on the side of the street and started to cross the road in the area when he was suddenly struck by the driver of a Ford Edge that was traveling south. The driver of the Ford was traveling at high speeds when the accident happened. When the two made contact, the driver dragged the pedestrian for about 100 feet. The driver then came to a quick stop, made a left turn, and kept driving.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Police were able to later find the vehicle that was involved in the accident but it was abandoned. They have not yet verified if they were successful in finding the owner of the vehicle.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for a period of time after the accident.
