Erie, PA – One Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Bird Dr
Erie, PA (July 31, 2023) – One person lost their life in a fatal motorcycle collision that took place on a roadway in Erie on Sunday afternoon, July 30.
According to Erie Police, the accident happened at 2400 Bird Drive around the area of Woodlawn Avenue at 2 p.m. Police confirmed that an SUV was traveling north with a motorcycle behind it. The SUV driver started to pill over when the motorcyclist struck the SUV from behind. There was another motorcyclist who also became involved in the crash. The accident led to extensive damage.
Several responders, including Erie paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The first motorcyclist was severely injured and rushed to UPMC Hamot by ambulance. He was tragically pronounced deceased while there. The second motorcyclist sustained injuries but is expected to be okay.
Police closed down a portion of the road for some time following the accident, which led to delays.
