Erie, PA – 9-Year-Old Killed in Fatal Crash at W 12th Ave & Pittsburgh Ave

Erie, PA (December 22, 2022) – Around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, December 22, a child was killed in a fatal car accident at an Erie intersection.

According to Erie County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of West 12th Avenue and Pittsburgh Avenue. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when one turned in front of the other at the intersection. The vehicles collided with each other, which led to extensive damage.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Erie responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A 9-year-old boy was in the vehicle that was struck by the vehicle making the left turn. He was rushed to UPMC Hamot Hospital but was tragically pronounced dead due to blunt-force trauma injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. It is not known if there were any charges brought against the driver of the at-fault vehicle.
