Erie Co., PA (December 6, 2023) – Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook confirmed that a 68-year-old man from Conneaut, Ohio, lost his life as a result of a multi-vehicle collision that took place in Erie County on Monday evening, December 4. At around 5:40 p.m., multiple vehicles collided on the westbound side of Interstate 90.
The incident prompted authorities to shut down the roadway between Exit 16 at Route 98 in Fairview, Pennsylvania, and Exit 9 at Route 18 in Gerard, Pennsylvania. Further investigations determined that a man was driving a pickup truck when they noticed a disabled vehicle on the berm of the highway. The driver of the vehicle pulled over to provide assistance when they were struck by a tractor-trailer. The man was fatally injured in the accident and pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing.
