Elizabethtown, PA (June 9, 2022) – On Thursday, June 9, two people were injured in a serious workplace accident at a facility in Elizabethtown.

According to Lancaster County officials, the accident happened in the afternoon hours at the M&M Mars facility in Elizabethtown. Two workers were working with a tank that was filled with chocolate. Due to reasons that are not yet known, the two workers fell into the tank and became trapped inside.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Lancaster County responders were dispatched to the scene to help the workers. A rescue operation took place, as both workers were trapped inside the vat. The parties, who have not yet been identified, were extricated and rushed to local hospitals by ambulance. Their current conditions are not yet known.

The facility was blocked off in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
