E Pittsburgh, PA – James Haberfield Killed in Fatal Crash on Braddock AveLawPaWriter
East Pittsburgh, PA (October 10, 2021) – At 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, a fatal hit-and-run crash occurred at an intersection in East Pittsburgh.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Braddock Avenue and Cable Avenue. Police confirmed that 72-year-old James Haberfield was driving south at the intersection when another vehicle moved into his lane, striking his vehicle. This caused Haberfield’s vehicle to strike the concrete barrier on the left side of the road. His vehicle then veered to the other side of the road and struck a concrete wall. The other driver got out of his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. Haberfield was severely injured and rushed to Forbes Hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead there within the hour.
The intersection was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
