Chester, PA – Trooper Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident in SB Lanes of I-95

Chester, PA (August 6, 2023) – At 3:45 p.m. on the afternoon of Sunday, August 6, a trooper was hurt in a hit-and-run accident in Chester.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-95. Police confirmed that a Pennsylvania State Trooper was investigating a car accident with two vehicles on the side of the road and waiting for a tow truck to arrive on the scene. While doing so, another vehicle approached the scene and struck the driver’s side of the trooper’s vehicle. The driver who struck the cruiser fled southbound without stopping.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The trooper was taken to Riddle Hospital with injuries but is expected to be okay. A woman involved in the first crash was also injured and taken to Crozer Hospital. Her current condition is not yet known.

The highway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released at this time. State Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
