Chambersburg, PA (May 15, 2022) – On Friday, May 13, a hit-and-run pedestrian accident took place in Chambersburg that led to injuries and charges.

According to local officials, the accident happened at the intersection of East Queen Street and South Fourth Street. An adult female was allegedly crossing the street in a wheelchair when she was struck by a woman who was operating a yellow SUV. The driver of the SUV continued driving after striking the pedestrian and did not remain at the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.

Police took a look at cameras in the area and found that the driver ran through a red light at the time of the accident. They found the female driver of the involved vehicle at her residence, where she admitted to striking the pedestrian. She has since been charged with causing an accident involving personal injury while not being properly licensed, reckless driving, driving while privileges were suspended for SUI, and more.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time following the collision.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
