Canonsburg, PA (November 5, 2019) – This morning around 5:30 a.m., a fatal wrong-way crash took place on the Raymond P. Shafer Highway in Canonsburg.
According to authorities, one person was killed and another was seriously injured in the accident, which took place in the southbound lanes of the highway and closed down the road for several hours.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident around 2 a.m. in the morning and the road was not reopened in the area until 5:30 a.m. Police claim that the accident occurred when two vehicles collided head-on when one crossed over the line. Both were left with a variety of extensive damages.
The 57-year-old man who died in the collision was the driver of one of the vehicles. He has been identified as Darnell Hudson. The other driver was identified as 28-year-old Zachary Porta, who was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
No other details have been released at this time. However, the investigation into the collision continues.
