Bethel, PA – Kellyann Mooney Killed in Fatal Truck Crash on I-78Pa Accident News
Bethel, PA (August 18, 2021) – Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, a woman was killed in a fatal truck crash in Bethel.
According to Berks County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-78 around the area of Route 645. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling in a passenger vehicle when they suddenly slammed into a tractor-trailer that was parked on the Interstate due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicle was severely damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 13-year-old passenger, a 7-year-old passenger, and the driver of the tractor-trailer were all injured and hospitalized. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 40-year-old Kellyann Mooney, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, the highway was blocked in all westbound lanes for approximately four hours.
