Berwick, PA – Ronald Scherer Killed in Fatal Accident on Salem Blvd

Berwick, PA (December 20, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a roadway in Berwick on the afternoon of Monday, December 19.

According to Salem Township Police Department officials, the accident happened around 1 p.m. at 1000 Salem Boulevard, which is also known as Route 11 in the area. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided with each other due to reasons that are not entirely known. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged due to the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Berwick responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. One person involved in the accident, identified as 87-year-old Ronald Scherer, was on the way to Berwick Hospital in an ambulance when he was tragically pronounced deceased due to his injuries. Three other victims sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the road was blocked in the area for some time.
