Apollo, PA (February 9, 2022) – Around 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, February 9, a car crash with injuries took place at a daycare in Apollo.
According to local officials, the accident happened on PA-66 at the Small World Daycare. A woman was driving a minivan and was at the daycare to drop off her child. She was suddenly sideswiped by a man who was driving a pickup truck in the area. The pickup truck driver then lost control, slamming into the side of the daycare. This led to extensive damage to the vehicle and the building.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the van and the driver of the pickup truck both sustained injuries and were hospitalized. They are expected to recover from their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time as police worked to clear the scene. Due to the severity of the damage to the building, the children were taken to Kiski Area Elementary School.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
