Allentown, PA – Tractor-Trailer Collision Leads to Injuries in One on PA-309
Allentown, PA (April 5, 2023) – A tractor-trailer collision with injuries took place on a highway in Allentown on the morning of Wednesday, April 5.
According to Upper Macungie Township Police, the accident happened around 11 a.m. on PA-309 around the area of the Tilghman Street exit. Police confirmed that a tractor-trailer was traveling on the highway when it was involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are still being investigated. Due to the severity of the crash, the vehicle ended up wedged under a portion of the trailer on the truck. Both of the vehicles caught on fire, leading to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately called to the scene. One of the drivers involved in the accident sustained injuries. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for several hours until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
