Allentown, PA – Fatal Head-on Collision Near Service Plaza on Pennsylvania Tpke

Allentown, PA (June 26, 2022) – Around 9:15 p.m. on Friday night, June 24, a fatal head-on collision took place on a highway in Allentown.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened on the Pennsylvania Turnpike around the area of the Allentown Service Plaza and the Lehigh Valley exit. A vehicle was traveling northbound in the south lanes of traffic due to reasons that are not yet known. Suddenly, it struck another vehicle head-on. This led to damages in both vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A passenger inside one of the vehicles was severely injured in the crash. The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both of the involved drivers were injured and rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time after the accident.

No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
