Abbottstown, PA – Two Hurt After Truck Crash on US 30/York Rd
Abbottstown, PA (August 2, 2024) – Two people were hospitalized, with one of them being airlifted with life-threatening injuries, after being trapped inside a minivan in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on US Route 30 near Abbottstown, Adams County, officials said.
According to Adams County dispatch records, firefighters were called to the scene on Friday, August 2, at around 11:20 a.m. on the 6700 block of York Road, U.S. Route 30, in Berwick Township.
Firefighters found one male driver entrapped in a minivan that had collided with a tractor-trailer, local officials informed. Fire apparatus from United Hook & Ladder responded to the scene, and firefighters were able to extricate the victim from the mangled wreckage in about 35 minutes using hydraulic rescue tools, officials said. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to UPMC Hanover, officers confirmed, and the driver was airlifted to York Hospital. However, an investigation is being conducted in the interim.
